Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy Groups
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is an OHIP covered, evidence based 8 week program that has been shown to help those suffering from repeated episodes of depression or chronic unhappiness to an equal degree as antidepressant medications. The benefits extend to management of anxiety or chronic stress. The focus of this program is a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and mindfulness meditation, a practice that helps develop awareness of one’s unique pattern of responding to stress, anxiety, low moods, and troublesome thought patterns. For more information about mindfulness, see Dr. Snider’s blog post “What is Mindfulness?” and for more information about MBCT and the clinical research associated, check out The Centre for Mindfulness and www.mbct.com.

- You are 18 or older
- You have suffered from depression, and are looking to prevent future relapse
- You struggle with anxiety, and are looking for better ways to manage
- You have difficulty managing stress and are looking to improve your stress resiliency
- You’re sick of living a hurried, unsatisfying life and want to connect to your life experience on a deeper level

**These groups are primarily OHIP covered. A deposit of $150 is required (returned at the end of the program if all sessions are attended), as well as a cost of $40 for the workbook. OHIP provides payment if the participant attends, but not if the participant misses. Thus, a payment of $75 is due for all missed sessions (excluding emergencies).
